Sirloin steaks served with mushrooms, onion, peppercorn and a red wine sauce
Ingredients:
2 Sirloin steaks
½ onion (finely sliced)
Handful of button mushrooms (finely sliced)
1tbls black whole pepper corns
2 glasses of red wine
Knob of salted butter
3tbls Italian olive oil
Salt & Pepper to taste
Preparation:
In a large frying pan, fry the onion, the mushrooms and the peppercorns in the olive oil. Once golden add in the steaks and season with salt and pepper. Cook for approx. 1 minute each side. Add in the red wine and allow to simmer on a medium heat for approx. 2-3 minutes.
Take off the heat and place in a knob of butter into the sauce allowing to melt and thicken.
To prepare the dish place 1 steak in the middle of a plate and pour over some of the red wine sauce. Serve immediately.
